St. Patrick's Day Party

St. Patrick's Day was on the 17th of March, however we will celebrate it this Thursday on the 19th! To make sure we all please the irish leprechauns, and the EBer, grab as much green clothing, Guinness and friends and join us in Het Walhalla this thursday!!

For those who want to know St. Patrick's day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, and, by extension, celebrates the heritage and culture of the Irish in general.

As a part of the MyFuture week, Thor is organizing a career day with the Department of Electrical Engineering, introducing only first year EE&AT students to MyFuture, which is then followed by a program of career activities, which can be seen below:

It is strongly advised for all first year students to attend, as this information is relevant to your graduation requirements! Additionally, to ensure this activity does not clash with lectures, the time this activity will occur will be education free, meaning that no lectures or other forms of education should occur during that time.

Shell Pernis Excursion

Explore the Heart of Dutch Industry at Shell Pernis

Discover one of Europe’s most impressive industrial sites up close. Shell Pernis spans the area of 800 football fields while containing more than 160,000 km of piping (enough to circle the Earth four times). It is the largest refinery in Europe where everyday, we process over 6 million litres of crude oil, supplying the energy the world relies on today while actively shaping the energy systems of tomorrow.

This visit offers a unique opportunity to experience the scale, complexity, and innovation behind modern refining and engineering. A full-day program is arranged on-site, including bus transportation to and from Eindhoven.

LuBo interest lunch

Thor will have a Lustrum coming in about a year. Therefore, it is time to setup a new LuBo. As LuBo you are resposible for making the lustrum book with all the best stories of the last few years. Mathworks pub lecture

Celebrate ODIN's anniversary (dies) with us and join the Mathworks pub lecture! During this pub lecture including free pizza and drinks, a guest from Mathworks will explain their work within the field of RF/antenna engineering.

As a short introduction in Mathworks, Mathworks specializes in mathematical computing software. Its major products include MATLAB and Simulink, which might already sound familiar to you. Therefore, a lot of different specializations are welcome in their company, and for this pub lecture the focus will be on Radiofrequency and antennas.

Therefore, make sure to sign up via the ODIN site for the free pizza and drinks while hearing all about Mathworks' expertise in RF/antenna!

Career Expo 2026

The Career Expo is a two-day event during which 180+ companies present themselves, and want to get acquainted with you. On top of that there are extra activities like resume checks, and much more.

The Career Expo 2026 will take place on March 3 and 4 in Auditorium and Atlas from 10:00 - 16:00. During the event, you will have the possibility to introduce yourself to over 180 companies eager to answer questions and talk about your potential place in that field of study or business. You will be able to orient yourself and develop your career like never before.

The Career Expo is specially tailored for all TU/e students. However, if you are a non-TU/e student it is possible to walk around over the expo and have a talk with all the companies.

During this lunch, we’ll explain what a board year actually looks like day to day: how much time it takes, what you can expect to do, and how you can combine it with your studies. We’ll also go through the different board functions, and what each role involves.

There will be time to ask questions, hear experiences from current or former board members, and get a better idea of which association (and which role) could suit you. If you’re still unsure, that’s totally fine, the interest lunch is also meant for people who just want to explore their options.

TenneT Excursion: BritNed HVDC

In the excursion to the TenneT BritNed HVDC interconnector, we will see firsthand how electricity flows between the Netherlands and the UK. This impressive site is all about connecting grids, boosting reliability, and making sure energy gets where it’s needed most.

On this visit, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at the technology that makes high-voltage direct current possible, and you’ll learn why it’s such a big deal for the energy transition. It’s a chance to see how international cooperation and smart engineering come together in one of Europe’s most advanced interconnectors.

We will meet in front of Flux on February 24th at 7:45 to board the bus that will take us to the site. The bus trip will take roughly 2 hours. Lunch will be provided by the company, and the expected return time to Flux is 17:00 (may change). The bus will leave at 8:00 so make sure to be on time!

Availability for the trip is not yet decided and may be limited. If that is the case, Master students will get subscription priority, followed by Bachelor students and then faculty members.
