Activities from Master Associations

Demcon is a technologic company that works in many fields like Energy, Defense & Security, and Life Sciences and Health. With 1100 employees spread across 25 companies, there is no market left untouched. Demcon Data-Driven Solutions is the company that will be visiting. They work on projects like “Supressing Medical pump generated flow disturbances using RL”.

Marnix Zoutenbier, the Chief Technology Officer of Demcon Data-Driven Solutions, will come and give this lunch lecture. The name of the lecture is “AI projects across the full spectrum of life”.

Mimir will provide lunch for everyone who signs up before the deadline.
This lunch lecture will be held on the 16th of September from 12:30 – 13:30. We will inform you later about the location.

DEMCON lunch lecture – Master Association Mimir 

 Are you interested in the photonics industry? Then we have something for you!  Photonics uses photons instead of electrons to transfer information. This can be used to create more  energy-efficient, faster, and more accurate microchips.

During this lunch lecture (free lunch provided) you will learn more about the possibilities for work and study in the field of photonics. Andre Fiore will give a short introduction and will talk about the new MasterPlus Optics&Photonics program. Furthermore, former students that work in the field of photonics will give some talks about their experiences. Representatives from the PhotonDelta ecosystem will also give pitches. The PhotonDelta ecosystem consists of more than 60 partners that together form the whole chain from the design to the application of photonic chips. 

 Join Mimir for a borrel in Het Walhalla! On the 18th of September, we will be having a drink to get to know each other. Though we call it a member drink, everyone is welcome. This is the perfect chance to socialise more with students interested in the field of AI & Engineering Systems. Come complain about your courses, talk about your vacation, or just meet some other students!

There is no registration, no checks and no reason not to come! 

 Canon is a global leader in consumer and professional printing. High-volume printers that can reach up to 200 meter of printed paper per minute are undoubtedly high-tech systems. The Canon Production printing branch employs about 3100 people, of whom around 1900 work in Venlo.

During the excursion, we will see a demonstration of one of the machines, receive a presentation about a day in the life at Canon, and get a tour through the Research & Development department. Note that the target group for this is AI&ES students, thus the topics discussed will largely be AI-related. Finally, we will close the day off with a “borrel”.

It will start around 13:00 and end around 17:00, excluding travel time. A bus will be arranged from the TU/e campus. A more detailed timing will follow later, but including travel it will likely be from 11:45 – 18:15.

This excursion is free. Mimir members will get priority over non members. There is a maximum of 30 spots available on this excursion, additional registrations will be put on a waiting list. Cancelling after the deadline without valid reason will result in a 10 € penalty.
