Waldur

Draaistroomdispuut Waldur is a student branch of e.t.s.v. Thor from the Electrical Engineering faculty of the Technical University of Eindhoven. DSD Waldur focuses on students who are interested in the areas of Electric Energy Systems, Electro-mechanics, Power Electronics and/or Automotive. 
By organizing excursions, lunch lectures, study trips, member days/drinks, symposia and other networking events we give students interested in those fields the opportunity to get in contact with each other and the related companies.

Royal Smit Excursion: The Construction of Power Transformers

Royal Smit manufactures power transformers. These can go up to 765 kV and hundreds of MVA. In addition, they produce reactors and phase-shifting transformers to maintain grid stability. 
They have been doing this in Nijmegen since 1913 and now operate worldwide. 
Do you want to see how these transformers, the size of small buildings, are designed, manufactured and tested? This is your chance!
On the 11th of September, we will visit their Nijmegen site for a factory tour.
As we are limited by personal protection measures (helmets and steel-tipped shoes), we have only 15 places for this trip, so be quick to sign up.
Note that master students will have priority if we have too many sign-ups. (You will be notified on the 7th of September).
