Board Blog

Monday, January 28, 2019

You can’t guess how happy I am that I have to write this blog exactly this week. This week is awesome because, as you must have noticed, the world is covered in snow. I absolutely love winter, but I love snow even more. I can remember the last few times the first snow fell and how I reacted or where I was. For instance, last year, the first snow started to fall down during one of the lab sessions of Electromechanics. I was very very excited and almost pushed Niek out of his chair when pointing to the window. The time before that, I woke up on a Saturday morning at my parents’ house.

How I ended up at Electrical Engineering

Tuesday, January 15, 2019

In 6VWO I decided I want to become an aerospace engineer. This was because I was very motivated to contribute in the exploration of space! But the selection procedure for new students was semi-randomized, based on results from your exams. It was  halfway June when I got the news, one and a half month after the deadline of subscribing for your study had passed. So I had to act fast and one of my friends convinced me astrophysics is the same, right? Wrong! But I started it and it was challenging me to think from every angle, which fit my learning motivations and made it fun!

Inline skating!!

Friday, December 21, 2018

For those who know me, it's only a matter of time until a blog about inline skating would appear, so here it is! Honestly, I can't help it, but whenever I have wheels under my feet, it feels like a more natural state to be in. I even feel a sort of “naked” without wheels. If the weather allows it, I often end up covering more kilometers on my wheeled shoes than on my bike. Besides allowing me to move insanely fast, they also increase my freedom of movement by a factor miljuizend, even though they hardly take up any space!

Favourite television series growing up!

Tuesday, December 4, 2018

As I am sure most of you have a favourite television show which you would love to watch as a child!
While everyone has his or her favourite, I will give you more insight into my favourite TV show growing up, namely Pat & Mat, Buurman en Buurman in Dutch.

The life of a Commissioner of Het Walhalla mostly consists of random tasks. More often than not, when I am sitting in the Board room, working on some tasks, a Tapper will randomly barge in and ask if I am really very busy. Usually this is not the case, so the Tapper tells me what is on his mind. This can be anything from broken lightbulbs to dirty floors to a newly opened swimming pool Het Hemeltje. This makes my days very interesting, because I never know what the day will bring me.
