Lunch Lecture Automotive Design

Thu, 2014-10-23 12:30 to 13:30

On automobiles, poverty and exiting design challenges by Elmer van Grondelle TU Delft (Advanced Automotive Design)

The automobile has always been representative for the state of our society. After traveling through its amazing history we end up with today’s car being marketed as the epitome of everything. In reality, it is the exact opposite. I would argue that the car has never been as poverty stricken as it is today. And that designers and engineers have played an obscure role in this. However, for the first time in decades all indicators point in a new direction. Vast societal changes lie ahead of us and you have a fundamental choice to make. Follow the same path of your predecessors, or save automobilism and the automobile by true design. Design and engineering haven’t been as challenging and exciting for a long time.

Sign up for the lunch lecture, at PT 2.24 (Thor Board room) or send an email to There will be free lunch and some time for an informal discussion afterwards.

Date: Thursday, October 23
Time: 12:30 – 13:30 hrs

Place: PT 1.05 (lecture room PT building)
